Advocacy Advance Partnership

Advocacy Advance is a partnership of the Alliance for Biking & Walking and the League of American Bicyclists to support local and state advocacy efforts. Leadership funding by SRAM has enabled the Advocacy Advance Program. This program provides technical assistance, research, training, and coaching for grassroots bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organizations.

The goals

The Advocacy Advance Program has three primary goals:

  1. The Advocacy Advance Team (dedicated League and Alliance staff) will focus research, technical resources, and advice focused on aiding grassroots organizations.
  2. The Advocacy Advance Team will provide additional training and direct assistance to state and local organizations to help implement model policies and programs.
  3. Advocacy Advance Grants will help fund start-up organizations and fund innovative campaigns by existing organizations. These grants are possible with funding from SRAM, Planet Bike, and Bikes Belong.

This new program builds on the strengths of the League and the Alliance.  The League of American Bicyclists’ Bicycle Friendly America Program recognizes cities, states, and businesses for their efforts to improve conditions for bicyclists and provides technical assistance to help them make progress. The Alliance for Biking & Walking works to create and strengthen state and local organizations by sharing best practices, innovations, and through numerous trainings.

Early support of the Alliance by Planet Bike and Bikes Belong helped get these new efforts going. The strong support of SRAM helped forge the partnership with the League and substantially strengthens the program. We thank these visionary companies that have made this program possible.
