Planning, executing and winning campaigns to increase bicycling and walking is one of the most important things your organization can do to grow and deliver your mission. Find resources for planning and winning campaigns, from the Alliance's Winning Campaigns Training. Also find information pertaining to specific campaigns that other Alliance organizations have undertaken including campaigns for 3-foot passing laws, car-free space, complete streets policies, fighting helmet laws, and winning safe and accessible infrastructure for bicycling and walking.
Complete streets policies require that street design consider the safety and needs of all potential users including bicyclists, pedestrians, transit and the disabled. Many Alliance organizations have undertaken complete streets campaigns and won local policies, and others are currently working to win complete streets in their communities. Find model complete streets policies, complete streets campaigns, and checklists for ensuring complete streets policies are effectively implemented.
Most Alliance organizations spend a significant portion of their resources on education. Promoting bike commuting, bicycle and pedestrian safety, sharing the road, and walking and biking to school are common education themes of Alliance organizations. Winning legislation and policies for bicycling and walking can help boost your organization's profile, grow your capacity, and increase bicycling and walking in your community. Public service announcements (PSAs) can help get your organization's message to the public through common media including print, billboards, radio, and television. Find sample PSAs including those promoting sharing the road, safety, and biking to work.
Safe Routes to School is a program that was brought to the U.S. by pioneering Alliance organizations and has now become a federally funded program being coordinated in all 50 states. Find resources on promoting Safe Routes to School, sample activities and materials, and links to other Safe Routes to School resources.
